Crown piston or piston head has a very important role in the continuity of electricity supply on board the ship. Damage to the crown piston on the diesel generator will result in decreased operational efficiency and will eventually increase maintenance costs. This study serves to determine the cause of damage to the crown piston of the diesel generator and to be able to identify effective maintenance solutions. The methods in this study include observation techniques, case study techniques, literature study techniques, interview techniques and documentation techniques. This study has the result that the cause of damage to the crown piston is due to the use of components that should not be components of this diesel generator and the improper installation of the components. The solution that the author can convey so that this incident does not happen again is by selecting parts or components according to the manual book and installing components more carefully, of course, still guided by the guide book.
